A chat with Pieter Venter – Director

We asked Pieter about CSS, their relationship with Wonderware and their customers as well as his views on the current state of the industries they address. This is what he had to say:

  • How did you get started in the business of industrial process control and industrial IT?
Back in 2002, after many years of industry experience and the early adoption of control and process technology, the founders of CSS decided to start a new company with dedicated service and commercial support teams to create a new level of service to industry.
  • What is the significance and importance of Wonderware certification to you?
Implementation consistency conforming to industry best practices as well as reduced rework and downtime.
  • Why did you choose Wonderware as a solution supplier?
We evolved with InTouch over time and Wonderware leads the industry with technology that provides the platform that enables us to add value to our customers’ businesses.
  • How will certification improve your business?
When industrial organisations evaluate potential solution providers for their automation projects, they carefully weigh the technical capabilities of the companies they engage. They recognise that not all solution providers are equal. Some provide better services than others and some have more technical expertise. CSS understands this and takes advantage of certification programmes to offer an objective, quantitative means for measuring and rewarding our technical skills and ability to implement Wonderware solutions.
  • What trends and challenges are you seeing in your industry?
With the unfortunate skills shortage and ageing workforce, end users are increasingly unable to specify their requirements in detail. Sometime lacking the experience to fully understand the value that could be obtained from an efficiently engineered solution with all the relevant components integrated.
  • How has CSS grown and changed in the past year and where do you see yourself in the next year or two?
CSS has completed an empowerment deal during 2016 of which we are very proud. We have showed continual growth over the past year in both turnover and staff complement and we continue to position ourselves as a partner of choice to our customers.
